Ian Nagoski \u00e4r en sj\u00e4lvl\u00e4rd musikolog och skivproducent baserad i Baltimore, Maryland USA. Under de senaste 20 \u00e5ren har hans arbete prim\u00e4rt fokuserat p\u00e5 de ut\u00f6vande immigranter fr\u00e5n Mellan\u00f6stern och \u00d6steuropa som spelade in skivor i USA ca. 1910-1950. Han har producerat ett dussintal cd\u2019er, lp\u2019er och kassetter f\u00f6r labels som Dust-to-Digital, Tompkins Square, Mississippi, Oma333 och Important s\u00e5 v\u00e4l som \u00f6ver 150 digitala utgivningar p\u00e5 sin egen label Canary. Delar av hans arbete har st\u00e4llts ut som installationer p\u00e5 Museum f\u00fcr Naturkunde i Berlin, The Wellcome
Collection i London, Peabody-museet i Baltimore och The Centre for PostNatural history i Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Han har gett f\u00f6rel\u00e4sningar runtom i v\u00e4rlden, fr\u00e5n Onasis Stegi i Aten till University of California i Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bio:
Ian Nagoski is a music researcher and record producer in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Over the past 20 years, his work has focused primarily on the immigrant performers from the Near East and Eastern Europe who made records in the U.S. ca. 1910-1950. He has produced dozens of CDs, LPs, and cassettes for labels including Dust-to-Digital, Tompkins Square, Mississippi, Oma333, Important, and others as well as over 150 digital releases on his own Canary label. Parts of his work have been exhibited as installations at the Museum f\u00fcr Naturkunde in Berlin, the Wellcome Collection in London, the Peabody Museum in Baltimore, and the Center for PostNatural History in Pittsburgh. He has given talk-and-listening presentations from the Onasis Stegi in Athens to the University of California in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

None of Us Know the Words: Immigrants, Natives, and the Holes in 20th Century Americana tells the story of the formation of a mythic American identity after World War II through the wonderful musics that were left out of the story \u2014 those of the continent\u2019s native populations and the the massive inward wave of non-English-language-speaking immigrants during the period 1880-1920 whose recorded production from 1910-40 equaled the production of all English-language material both in quality and in quantity. It is an enthusiastic, fascinating look into the U.S. before its hegem<\/p>\n\n\n\n
